Customers queue outside Bolton barber shop as it reopens

Queues formed outside barber shops in Bolton this morning as some reopened their doors for the first time in months.

Customers eager to have their locks trimmed waited patiently outside Kev's Kuts in Halliwell Road ahead of its reopening at 9am.

After months of questionable DIY haircuts, the easing of lockdown measures means people are now able to visit hairdressers and barber shops.

And even the early morning drizzle was unable to deter some.

Today is the first day since lockdown that a host of businesses are able to open, as long as coronavirus safeguards are in place.

A number of new measures have been introduced at salons and barber shops, including floor markings to show where people should sit.

Hairdressers and barbers will all be wearing see-through visors, and many will provide their customers with a face mask and, in some cases, reusable gowns.

Payment will also be contactless and salons have been advised to make trips as quick and easy as possible.

Customers can still get a colour, but barbers have been limited to just doing cuts instead of shaves for the time being.

Meanwhile, magazines have also been ditched due to the risk of transferring Covid-19 via their surface.

Music must also be turned down low so that people do not end up shouting to one another, which increases the risk of transmitting the virus.
