Customers left 'fuming' after water company calls them at 3am

Customers have taken to Twitter to vent their fury at a water company who sent out an automated call to customers at 3am in the morning.

Some Severn Trent Water customers were woke-up on more than one occasion last night by an automated service call from the company warning of water shortages in their area. Users complained at being called at all times during the night.

One Twitter user was left 'fuming' with the company: "Fuming with #severntrent today.

"Got an automated phone call about water usage at 11pm last night and another repetitive one at 4am waking us both up.

"Strongly worded tweet to them this morning, and now we're both knackered for work.

"Thanks a bunch! Might jet wash the patio now!"

Another Tweeted: "Appreciate that you are doing your best to cover us during this water shortage but did you have to call my house at 3am last night?

"My wife is a key worker so rest is of the utmost importance. Check your automated call schedule."

A third added: "Dear @stwater please don’t call my elderly mother at 3:19am to inform her about changes in water pressure!!"

The company have since apologised to customers who received the rogue calll.

Severn Trent say a third party fault with their automated calling system resulted in the calls which left many customers rudely awakened.

Earlier this week, the company revealed it's pumping out 95 million litres every hour of the day, more than the company has ever done in the last three decades.

As a result, the company have been dealing with water supply problems to many areas in the Midlands as well and is urging customers to reduce their usage of jet washes, sprinklers and filling pools and hot tubs.
