Customers fume at Laughter Lounge's disastrous €50 online Valentine's show

The Laughter Lounge has had to promise refunds to customers after its €50-a-ticket Valentine’s Day show became a laughing stock.

The Dublin-based comedy club apologised after technical difficulties rendered much of the online show totally unwatchable on Saturday.

Customers complained after it used pre-recorded material, including Christmas jokes, instead of the interactive experience they were promised.

Conall O’Cofaigh, from Rathfarnham in Dublin, bought the ticket for himself and his partner Suzanne, but told Dublin Live the pair would have been better off watching Netflix.

He said: “The first 30 minutes of the show were a complete disaster because the moderator didn’t mute the audience, which meant that you had more than 400 people shouting over each other the entire time.

“When that got sorted, there was a crackle and an echo in the audio, so you couldn’t really make out what the comedians were saying.”

After a host of technical difficulties, the audience was given a second link where they would be able to view the rest of the performance.

The Laughter Lounge said in a statement: “We will be emailing each and every one of our customers directly as quickly as we can. Please bear with us.”

Customers will only receive a €20 refund as the ticket price included a hamper.
