Customers have been left divided over a Scottish chippy’s bold decision to deep-fry the Strawberries and Cream Sandwich from M&S.
Hook and Catch, based in Bearsden, Glasgow, experiments with a number of sweet treats on its social media, including Jammy Dodgers and Jaffa Cakes.
But a recent video, showing the chippy deep frying the limited edition M&S summer sandwich, has divided the opinions of its customers, with some calling it “crazy” while others said it looked “amazing”.
The video was captioned: “M&S just dropped a Strawberry & Cream Sandwich… so we battered it. Obviously.
The M&S sandwich was a big hit earlier this summer, flying off the shelves ahead of Wimbledon, where strawberries and cream is a traditional treat.
To create this treat, the chippy took the sandwich out of its packaging and dipped it in batter and deep-fried it until it was golden brown.
They then sliced it in half and served it with strawberry sauce and a dusting of icing sugar.

Chippy staff said it might be the next “guilty pleasure”, but some customers are not so sure.
One person said: “Nooo too far,” while another said, “Surely you try these crazy creations.”
Some were impressed by the creation though and said: "This looks amazing."
A second added: "It gets better and better and better."
While someone else wrote: "This is not just a sandwich, this is a Hook and Catch sandwich."
