Customer slams Brunel Bar and Kitchen at Bristol Airport after paying £17 for 'worst burger ever'

A customer has said he thinks he may have bought the "worst burger ever" at Bristol Airport for £17.26.

The disappointed punter shared a picture of the meal he ate at Brunel Bar and Kitchen on Twitter.

He tweeted: "This may be the worst burger I have ever eaten £17.29. Avoid the Brunel at #bristolairport."

The eatery is operated by SSP, who have more than 600 retail and catering outlets in 20 airports and 115 train stations across the UK.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said: "The quality of our food is very important to us, so we’re sorry to hear that one of our customers had cause to complain.

"Having looked into the matter, it appears that the burger was not prepared as we would expect it to be.

"We’ll make sure to feed this back to the team, and we’d also ask the customer to contact us at customer.care@ssp.uk.com so that we can resolve the matter."

This is not the first time Brunel Bar and Kitchen has been under fire for its overpriced portions.

Last December, Simon Evans from Exeter was shocked to find his burger served with a "handful" of chips - far less than he had initially expected for £16.29.

"After spending such an extortionate amount on the meal I was completely shocked to see just a tiny handful of chips on the plate - it looked ridiculous," the 37-year-old told Bristol Live.

"I can't imagine why the staff thought it would be acceptable to serve a meal that looked like that. "I know that food in airports is notoriously expensive and I wasn't expecting much, but it really did seem to be a rip-off.

"I have flown a lot from Bristol Airport, and it's really disappointing to see the quality in services like restaurants decline even as the airport itself grows. It might be a bit of a captive market, but I don't think it's fair to exploit that and enforce ridiculous prices on passengers.

"Their approach just seems to be completely profit-based and it isn't customer-focused at all."
