Customer sent £700 of drinks after playing 'Wetherspoons Game'

Anyone who frequently visits Wetherspoons will know just how life-changing the bar chain's app can be.

Getting up to order food and drink is a thing of the past, as a 'Spoons customer can get anything delivered right to their table.

However, according to Manchester Evening News , some people have taken advantage of this app and have been playing the 'Wetherspoons game'.

If you know the exact pub and table number someone is at, you can send food and drink items directly to them no matter where you are.

When playing the 'Wetherspoons game' you can post your table number to social media and see what free items you get as a result; some people could send your favourite drink, others can send more obscure items like a glass of milk or a plate of peas.

Karl Phillips decided to play the game, expecting a free drink or two out of it, but was pranked by the Internet.

Also known as 'The Captain', Karl revealed he was heading to a Wetherspoons pub on Saturday (11 January) and one of his followers asked which table he was sitting at.

After giving his table number, the orders came through fast.

Surprised by the amount of food and alcohol at his table, Karl tweeted: "Well f*** dis s*** Jesus wept who keeps sending me drinks they piling up like f*** lads."

Around ten minutes later, he posted: "Well come on lads pack it in I'm leaving in a minute weatherspoins [sic] have taken over 700 quid worth of orders."

Several drinks later, Mr Phillips added: "Top wind up lads looks like it's going to make a few bob for charity (providing head office clear it)."

At around 3pm, Karl tweeted a picture of himself with another pub-goer captioned "It's getting tasty now lads".

Things clearly must have escalated after this and more pints consumed as Karl posted this at 1.30am:

"Bunch of f***ers I've just woke up f*** me I was in hell of a mess cheers."
