Customer charged €10 for '5kg' chicken fillet roll after weighing scales blunder

A customer was left confused after rushing to the deli for a post night-shift meal and finding he had been charged an 'outrageous' amount for his chicken fillet roll.

Taking to Twitter, the customer said: "So I understand inflation is a runaway train at the moment, but then there's taking the p***".

The man said in his haste to have something to eat, he failed to check the price before leaving the store, only to find he had been mistakenly overcharged.

The sticker on his roll stated he had purchased a hot chicken roll with two fillings, weighing a whopping 5kg and costing €10.

People were shocked by the 'extortionate' price.

One said: "please tell me you went back in and didn't just eat a €10 roll".

While a second wrote: "It would want to have a fiver inside it".

And a third commented: "Ya must've got a whole turkey in there 5kg is a big chicken".

Responding to over hundreds of comments, the customer joked: "For everybody saying I am just as much at fault for paying it;

"You are correct, but I was hungry".

Pointing out the weight mishap, another said:" "5kg??? lmaooo".

To which the man replied: "I'm hoping it was a mistake and I didnt eat a solid percentage of my weight in chicken".

He added: "It was too late before I even realised, I think post night shift delirium got to me But at least it tasted good".

However, the man explained that the pricing mix-up was his mistake as he hadn't noticed it before he left and insisted that the shop produces good quality chicken rolls that he would recommend.

He said: "Don't avoid it, it was a mistake on the pricing that I didn't spot at the time".
