Curtis Jones scoops prestigious award to highlight impressive Liverpool progress

Liverpool starlet Curtis Jones has been named as the Player of the Season for Premier League 2.

The 19-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough season with the Reds this term, progressing from the club’s Under-23 side to becoming a regular member of the first-team squad.

In his 14 league appearances for the young Reds, Jones scored nine goals and provided five assists for his team mates.

Captaining the side on many occasions, Jones also scored a hat-trick in their UEFA Youth League tie against Napoli in November.

Jurgen Klopp saw enough to hand Jones a more frequent role in his first-team, including starting him in several big cup ties.

The youngster scored the winning penalty to beat Arsenal in the League Cup fourth round in October, and also scored a sensational strike to knock Everton out of the FA Cup in January.

He also made enough Premier League appearances with the senior side to receive a winner's medal.

In total, Jones has scored 17 goals across the under-23 and first-team this season, with three goals coming for Klopp’s team.
