The three-day ‘Osmania Taksh - 2022’ concluded with an extravagant cultural event held at the Landscape Garden on Saturday.
Goreti Venkanna, MLC., and national Sahitya Akademi awardee, who was the chief guest, said that the real good poetry emerges from being closer to nature and lessons learnt from life, and lessons learnt from life manifests in words.
Addressing the 5,000 strong crowd he said market economy has distorted real poetry. He also said it is a challenge to take forward the public university in the face of corporatisation.
Prof. D. Ravinder, Vice-Chancellor of the university, urged the students to nurture a positive attitude and yearn for a change. Explaining the rationale behind Osmania Taksh, he said that it was envisaged to showcase the activities and achievements of the departments and research centres. The university is seeking intellectual inputs from the alumni and plans to consolidate the alumni base.
Prof. Laxminarayana, Registrar, and Prof Reddya Naik, OSD to V-C., also spoke on the occasion.
Ms Radha Mohan, an eminent classical dancer based in Mumbai, opened the gala evening with a dance performance. She expressed her elation for having got a chance to perform in the alma mater of her husband and son.
Several vice-chancellors, university officials, staff, students, research scholars and the general public participated. The prize winners of the inter-collegiate competition also received the certificates.
