Celtic boast an astonishing record for drawing first blood away from home in Europe only to end up losing the battle.
Incredibly, the last time the Hoops failed to score the opener on the road in the continent was almost TWO YEARS ago.
That came in a 2-0 defeat to FC Cluj in December 2019 after Neil Lennon fielded a much-changed side for their final Europa League dead rubber with qualification already secured before that trip to Romania.
Since then, the Parkhead side have netted first in TEN away games in Europe but have won just THREE of those matches and have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the last seven, a run stretching back more than a year to their 1-0 win over Sarajevo.
Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to strike first again when they take on Ferencvaros in Budapest on Thursday but with a different outcome.

Celtic defeated the Hungarians at Parkhead last month and that has put them in contention for qualification from Group G, or at the very least a Conference League place.
The three matches they won were against Jablonec this season and the 1-0 wins against Sarajevo and Riga last season - both one-off ties.
Here, Record Sport Online looks at the last 10 Euro away games with Celtic scoring first in every one.
FC Copenhagen
Odsonne Edouard was on target early on for Neil Lennon’s side but that was cancelled out and the Hoops couldn’t take advantage of a late Fraser Forster penalty save as they lost the home leg 3-1 to crash out of Europe in the last-32 tie.
Riga
Mohamed Elyounoussi's last-gasp strike in Latvia avoided a Europa League embarrassment for the Hoops as they restored some proved after their Champions League exit at the hands of Ferencvaros.
Sarajevo
This was another one-off tie due to Covid as UEFA streamlined the qualifiers and Odsonne Edouard struck the only goal in Bosnia.
Sparta Prague
Frenchman Odsonne Edouard was again the man to score first and there was no sign of the humiliation to come when he netted after just 15 minutes as the Czech side rattled in four goals.
AC Milan
The Hoops stunned the San Siro with two quick fire goals as Tom Rogic and and Odsonne Edouard both scored inside quarter of an hour but they they collapsed after that and conceded four.
Lille
Mohamed Elyounoussi scored a double to put Celtic on course for a win away to the side who would later be crowned French champions but they couldn’t see it out as Lille battled back for a draw.
Midtjylland
Callum McGregor’s wonder strike in Denmark put the Hoops in the driving seat for a Champions League place after a 1-1 draw at Parkhead but after the home side levelled they suffered a heartbreaking extra time loss.
Jablonec
This was one of those rare occasions where Celtic scored first and won with Liel Abada and Kyogo on target early on in a 4-2 victory.
AZ Alkmaar
Celtic should have been out of sight in the tie when Kyogo netted the opener in Holland after a 2-0 win in Glasgow but the Dutch came back to score a couple and make it a nervy night.
Real Betis
Albian Ajeti and a Josip Juranovic penalty had Celtic a couple of goals up and the Spaniards were sweating in sweltering Seville but Manuel Pellegrini’s men roared back to score four times.
