Currys PC World website crashes as shoppers flock for Black Friday bargains

It’s one of the most popular sites on Black Friday, but it appears the Currys PC World website has crashed.

According to Down Detector, the website has been down since 14:28 GMT, and is affecting customers across the UK.

While the reason for the crash remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 63% said they couldn’t access the website, 27% were having problems at checkout, and 8% were struggling with login.

Mirror Online tried to access the website, and received an error message reading: “We’re down for a bit of maintenance…but we’ll be up and running again soon!”

Several frustrated shoppers have taken to Twitter to discuss the outage.

One user tweeted: "Currys website absolutely mince today. Tried for hours to complete a purchase. Now it has applied my voucher balance, but error on the order! Now I cannot reorder and it looks like the balance has been fully deducted from my gift card. FS!

Another wrote: "Currys keeps crashing. Find item - blink. Back to main page. Find item again - blink. Back to main page. Find item again. Add to basket. Crash. Your website now under maintenance. Will Currys PC World extend Black Friday to Black Saturday since website can't cope?"

And one vented: "What a day for your website to crash. Do I hang on or buy my products elsewhere?"
