Currys PC World to open for click and collect in Nottingham

Currys PC World will be opening a store in Nottingham for click and collect orders as part of a pilot scheme.

The electronics retailer, owned by Dixons Carphone, will be opening its store in Castle Marina Retail Park, just off Castle Bridge Road, from Friday, May 22.

However, certain social distancing measures will be enforced.

These include shop colleagues delivering any ordered products from the store to your car, rather than customers entering the store.

The opening will at first be a trial while the retailer awaits the green light for more stores to open if demand is there.

Mark Allsop, chief operating officer at Dixons Carphone said: "We will be piloting a limited zero-contact Order & Collect service from today, Friday May 22, across 20 of our UK stores.

"The service will allow customers to purchase items online and collect them from their chosen pilot store, with pickup availability ranging from an hour after purchase to the next day depending on stock levels.

“Customer and colleague safety is our highest priority. We’ve implemented social distancing and hygiene measures to ensure that colleagues can feel comfortable in coming back to work and so our customers feel safe to visit us.

"Once at the store, customers will check-in online on their mobile device with their order details and a Currys PC World colleague will deliver directly to their car, or a safe designated pick-up zone.

“The products available for collection will span Laptops, Domestic Products, TVs and printers, plus many more important tech items.

"Once you have placed an order, customers will receive an email once the item is ready to be collected safely.

"We will be following Government advice on the reopening of our stores.

"When we do, we will be prepared to open so that our customers can shop for their important tech in-store safely and with social distancing measures in places.

"For now, this trial will allow us to review demand, and test viability of expanding this service outside of this select group of stores while we await the Government’s green light to open further."
