Curry out three weeks with MCL sprain; Green to play Sunday, Durant eyes next week

OAKLAND, Calif. _ The Warriors had a get-what-you-need-day Saturday as Stephen Curry had an MRI on his left knee, which revealed a Grade 2 MCL sprain. Curry will miss at least three weeks. The playoffs start in exactly three weeks.

Curry sustained the injury with 3:09 left in the third quarter of the Warriors game against Atlanta on Friday after JaVale McGee attempted to block a shot by Hawks' Mike Muscala and fell onto Curry. Curry, who was playing in his first game back after missing the last six games because of a right knee injury, limped off the court and did not return.

At least there was a bit of a good news pertaining to one of the Warriors' other three injured All-Stars. Draymond Green (pelvic contusion) will play Sunday against Utah.

Green sustained the injury in a game against the San Antonio Spurs on March 19 after colliding with Danny Green midair. Green missed Friday's game.

Green will start Sunday and won't have a minutes restriction.

"Could you imagine if I brought Draymond off the bench?" Kerr said. "That would be awesome."

Kevin Durant (right rib soreness) will not be available Sunday but could return either Tuesday or Thursday of next week if he keeps progressing. The Warriors host Indiana on Tuesday and Milwaukee on Thursday.

"KD is doing better," Kerr said. "I talked to him today. He made some real strides the last couple of days."

Meanwhile, Klay Thompson (fractured right thumb), should return sometime after Durant. Thompson still isn't shooting with his right hand, though Kerr joked that the sharpshooter isn't half bad with his left hand.

"As much as I love his left-handed shot, I'd still prefer the right-handed one," Kerr said.

Kerr said that Patrick McCaw (lower back contusion) and Nick Young (right knee) will also be available Sunday.
