NEW ORLEANS _ The NBA soap opera continued.
Teams fought for playoff positioning. Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki had farewell games. And Magic Johnson stepped down as the Lakers' president of basketball operations.
Meanwhile, the Warriors wrestled with the ultimate first-world problem. How do they handle a meaningless regular-season game after already locking up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference?
The Warriors finished with a 112-103 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, and the only real development entailed what happened in the first quarter.
The Warriors determined that Stephen Curry had a mild right foot sprain after rolling his right ankle late in the first quarter. They sat him for "precautionary reasons," and it would not be surprising if the Warriors sat Curry for their regular-season finale against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Warriors also sat Kevin Durant (flu), Klay Thompson (right knee soreness), Andrew Iguodala (left toe soreness) and Andrew Bogut (rest).
In his first game facing New Orleans since leaving the franchise last summer for the Warriors, DeMarcus Cousins had 21 points while going 7 of 18 from the field, 12 rebounds and six assists. Damion Lee had 20 points, which will likely be the second-to-last end game with a Warrior since he is only on a two-way contract. In his first start after facing limited playing time as a rookie, Jacob Evans added a career-high 11 points and five rebounds.
The Warriors (56-24) will finish the regular season in Memphis on Wednesday.
