Curry Counter: Warriors’ Steph Curry needs just two 3-pointers to break Ray Allen’s NBA all-time record

History will be put on hold for another day. However, it shouldn’t have to wait long.

After netting five triples against the Indiana Pacers on Monday, Steph Curry needs just two 3-pointers to break Ray Allen’s NBA all-time record from beyond the arc.

While the record has been looming, Curry has been in a slump from long distance. Over the last three games, the seven-time All-Star guard has shot an uncharacteristic 14-fo-46 from deep.

On Monday against the Pacers, Curry shot 5-of-15 from the 3-point line on the way to a team-high 26 points during Golden State’s narrow victory, 102-100.

Allen stands in first place for at least another game with 2,973 on the NBA’s all-time made 3-pointer list. Curry currently trails right behind him with 2,971.

Curry’s next chance to break the record will come on Tuesday at the mecca. Curry will need only a pair of triples against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden to be crowned the league’s most prolific 3-point shooter ever.

The Golden State guard has had notable success at Madison Square Garden, scoring 53-points in a breakout performance in 2013. During his coming-out party in the big apple, Curry hit 11 3-pointers on 13 attempts from long distance.

The NBA world will be watching for history on Tuesday night. The contest between the Warriors and Knicks is slated to start at 4:30 p.m. PT in New York.
