Current, former Giants react to death of hip-hop icon DMX

DMX, a hip-hop icon who took off in the 1990s and early 2000s, died on Wednesday, his family said in a statement. He was just 50 years old.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” his family’s statement read in part.

“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end,” the family continued. “He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him.”

Following the news of his passing, many celebrities, artists and athletes paid tribute to DMX on social media, including current and former members of the New York Giants.
