Cup final buzz hits Perth Academy with pupils set to wear blue on Friday

Perth Academy will be a sea of blue and white on Friday to show their support for St Johnstone.

The school is holding a charity ‘Wear it Blue Day’ with pupils encouraged to pull on a Saints top or blue item of clothing.

Head prefect Louis Gallagher has played a key role in organising the event and all money raised will be going to Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia (TCCL).

Saints will compete in the final of the Scottish Cup on Saturday and, having already won the League Cup earlier in the year, it has been a season of tremendous success for the Perth club.

PE teacher Michael Rodger said: “Supporting the local team is what we want to encourage the people of Perth to do.

“Our school community is proud to be part of Perth and anything we can do to help, we will.

“And if that means allowing all the pupils of Perth Academy to wear blue for the day, then we will play our part.

“It’s an amazing time to support saints, and a great time to make history.

“We wish the team all the best and to bring it back to Perth again, just like 2014.”
