(Picture: AP)Today in things that aged especially poorly, a 2013 tweet from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has gone viral, calling for a “zero tolerance policy when it comes to sexual harassment.”
While that’s all well and good and should generally be the norm, the tweet is truly trending due to its author’s blatant hypocrisy: The tweet only resurfaced in light of a bombshell report from New York State Attorney General Leticia James that found Andrew Cuomo had sexually harassed at least 11 women.
Yup. Get the fuck out.

“There should be a zero tolerance policy when it comes to sexual harassment & must send a clear message that this behavior is not tolerated,” the entire tweet reads. However, despite 165 pages containing 179 witness testimonies and tens of thousands of documents investigating the governor’s own sexual harassment allegations, he refuses to resign. Instead, the politician has chosen to defend his behaviour, refuting the claims in a fifteen minute long pre-recorded video.

“I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances,” he said. “I am 63 years old, I’ve lived my entire adult life in public view. That is just not who I am and that’s not who I have ever been.”

“I’ve been making the same gesture all my life. I actually learned it from my mother and form my father,” he said, referring to photo in which he grasps one accuser’s cheeks to kiss her at a 2019 wedding. “It is meant to convey warmth, nothing more…There are hundreds if not thousands of photos of me using the exact same gesture. I do it with everyone,” he continued, as a montage of photos depicting Cuomo embracing various citizens with hugs and kisses began to play. “I do it with everyone. Black, white, young, old, straight and LGBTQ, powerful people, friends, strangers, people who I meet on the street,” Cuomo narrated over the slideshow.
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio: "It is beyond clear that Andrew Cuomo is not fit to hold office and can no longer serve as Governor. He must resign, and if he continues to resist and attack the investigators who did their jobs, he should be impeached immediately."

As Cuomo moves to blame the victims and play the victim, let's hold him to his own standard that he set back in 2013. https://t.co/5gjHzOJbG1
