Cumlodden Drive murder probe: Police name Maryhill woman killed in her own home

Police have tonight confirmed a murder investigation has been launched after a woman was killed in her own home in Maryhill.

54-year-old Jacqueline Grant was found dead within her flat on Cumlodden Drive on Tuesday evening.

Officers say Jacqueline died 'as a result of a brutal attack' and her family have been left devastated.

Police are appealing for information as the murder probe continues and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

A statement this evening advised: "Police are appealing for information following the murder of a 54-year-old woman in Maryhill, Glasgow, on Tuesday, 6 April, 2021.

"Around 5.25 pm on Tuesday evening, the body of Jaqueline Grant (54) was found within her flat in Cumlodden Drive, Maryhill, Glasgow. Her relatives are aware.

"A post mortem has now been carried out and her death is being treated as murder."

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Grainger, Major Investigation Teams, said: “Jacqueline died as a result of a brutal attack in her home and her family are devastated by what has happened.

“We have a dedicated team of officers dealing with the case supported by local officers and specialist resources including forensic and search trained officers, carrying out a detailed search of her home and the local area.

“Officers have also been checking CCTV in and around the flats and in nearby streets and have been carrying out local enquiries, speaking to neighbours, residents and businesses to try to glean as much information as they can. However, we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area either later in the evening or night of Monday, 6 April or the early hours and in to the morning of Tuesday 6 April.

“If you have not yet spoken to police, and have information, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, about the murder, then please contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting reference number 2388 of 6 April, 2021. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“Detectives have also set up an online portal to encourage members of the public to submit any information. This can be accessed by clicking https://mipp.police.uk/operation/SCOT21S11-PO1.
