A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Cumbernauld.
Police were called to the scene on the town's Central Way yesterday evening after reports of a BMW1 series car striking a pedestrian.
The 37-year-old was rushed to University Hospital Monklands, while the 84-year-old male driver of the car was also taken to hospital for treatment - his injuries are not understood to be serious.
Police are now appealing for information about the incident and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.
A police statement issued this afternoon confirmed: "Officers are appealing for information after a pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Cumbernauld.
"The 37-year-old male pedestrian was injured during the incident which happened around 6.15pm on Thursday, 3 June on the A8011 Central Way in the town.
"He was taken to University Hospital Monklands for treatment and his condition is described as serious.
"The 84-year-old male driver of the silver BMW 1 series involved was also taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be serious."

Constable Fraser McEwan, of the Road Policing Unit in Motherwell, commented: "Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who has information which hasn't been passed to police yet to come forward.
"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time.
"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 2904 of 3 June."
