One of Ayrshire's most popular tourist spots has been ransacked by thieves.
Culzean Castle's visitor centre was raided early yesterday morning, police have said today.
A glass panel was smashed to force entry to the premises at around 5.55am and a number of items were stolen from within.
Police are now calling on the public to help them with their enquiries.
Chief inspector Derrick Johnson said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the grounds of Culzean Castle & Country Park in the early hours of Sunday morning to come forward.
“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 1081 of August 1, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The Ayrshire Castle built in 1772 is now cared for by the National Trust for Scotland and is home to an enormous collection of flintlock pistols and military swords.
