Culture Night returns to Dublin with over 250 free events throughout the city

The program for Dublin Culture Night 2021 has been launched with over 200 venues participating across the capital.

Starting on Friday, September 17, more than 250 in-person and online events will take place and all are free to attend.

The program was unveiled at Liberty Lane with Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alison Gilliland and Dublin Culture Night Ambassador, broadcaster, Ola Majekodunmi, in attendance.

Among the events taking place in September are three projects funded by Dublin City Council.

Those three projects are entitled Dublin Hold My Mind, Street Symphony, and two new murals on Bedford Lane in response to the poem 'Dublin' by Louis MacNeice.

Those who are fond of Irish literature are in for a treat as you can now walk in the footsteps of Jonathan Swift by going on the tour of Marsh's Library.

Or why not view ancient manuscripts at the Chester Beatty in Dublin Castle.

Other notable events include a talk at Trinity College discussing how they preserve the Book of Kells and free workshops in the Gaiety School of Acting.

If Dublin county is more appealing then head to Malahide Castle and Gardens where free tours are being provided.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alison Gilliland, has encouraged everyone to come out and enjoy the culture of Dublin after the struggle of the last 18 months.

She said: "After what has been a deeply challenging period, particularly for the creative sector, I’m deeply honoured to launch the programme for Culture Night Dublin. Originating in Dublin’s Temple Bar in 2006, Culture Night has grown to become a major celebration of the city's culture, creativity and heritage. The last 18 months has shown that culture is more important in our lives than ever."

Dublin Bus will be providing a free shuttle bus service on three new routes every 20 minutes from Bachelors Walk, College Green and Aston Quay.
