Cultural Capital: What’s on in London culture 2022 - Running with Lions

Welcome back to a new year of Cultural Capital, our weekly show in which we look at some of our favourite things happening in London culture.

This week, we headed down to the Lyric Hammersmith, to talk to writer Sian Carter and director Michael Buffong about Carter’s debut play, Running with Lions, the story of a multi-generational British-Caribbean family struggling to find a way to talk about grief, love, death and mental ill-health, which stars Ruby Barker (AKA Marina Thompson in Bridgerton).

We also visited the Natural History Museum where we found what might be their most revolting exhibit, for Thing of the Week, and in a weird week for film, I’ve reviewed a seemingly cosy but fascinating documentary, The Real Charlie Chaplin, which aims to peel off the Tramp’s silly moustache and reveal the man behind it, who turns out to be a much more difficult person to love than his great creation.

We hope you like our new look - for all this content and more in the coming weeks follow the Evening Standard on TikTok, and ES Culture on Instagram and Twitter.
