Cult classic Withnail and I to be shown on big screen at Newcastle Castle

Classic British comedy Withnail, and I will be shown on a big screen in Newcastle Castle.

The castle is screening the black comedy in its Great Hall on Friday, August 30.

The film stars Grant, as Withnail and Paul McGann as 'I' - who are two struggling actors who decide to leave their cesspit of a Camden flat to go on holiday in the Lake District.

Since its release, Withnail, and I has become a cult hit.. The movie attracted little attention when it was released in 1987, but built up a following in later years, and is packed with highly quotable scenes.

Doors will open at approximately 6pm, with the film starting at 6.30pm inside the castle's Great Hall.

Other films being shown at the castle this summer include The Rocky Horror Picture Show, 10 Things I Hate About You, Stand By Me and Evil Dead.
