Cuilcagh Boardwalk in Co Fermanagh to close for three days due to essential maintenance

A popular walking trail in Co Fermanagh is set to close for three days later this month.

The Cuilcagh Boardwalk, also known as the Stairway to Heaven, will close to the public from Tuesday, September 21 to Thursday, September 23 inclusive.

The trail, which is located within the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark just 12 miles outside of Enniskillen, will reopen to walkers on Friday, September 24.

All other sites within the Geopark will remain open while the Cuilcagh Boardwalk is temporarily closed.

This popular mountain trail is four miles long and meanders through one of the largest expanses of blanket bog in Northern Ireland, traversing over tracks, boardwalk and staircase.

The Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, located in counties Fermanagh and Cavan, contains some of the finest landscapes on the island of Ireland.

There are more than 50 sites in the Global Geopark which are open all year round and free of charge to explore, including the Marbel Arch Caves Visitor Centre, which also remains open.
