CUET for PG admissions from 2022 academic session, says UGC chairman

The University Grants Commission [UGC] announced on May 19 that post-graduate admissions for the upcoming admission session will be conducted through a Common University Entrance Test [CUET], like the one for under-graduate courses announced a few months back.

“Common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG) for post-graduate admissions to be held in the last week of July, 2022. Application form submission will start today on NTA (National Testing Agency) website. Programme details will be available on websites of participating Central Universities & other Universities,” UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said on Twitter.

The decision comes weeks after the UGC chief announced that CUET scores, and not Class 12 scores, will be mandatory for admission to 45 central universities and that the central universities can fix their minimum eligibility criteria.

The NTA will conduct the post-graduate entrance test for 42 Central and participating universities for the academic session 2022-2023. The registration window is between May 19 to June 18.

The exam will be conducted in Hindi and English. Over 10.46 lakh candidates have registered for CUET-UG so far.

In March, the UGC announced that students seeking admission to an under-graduate course will need to sit for the CUET, and 12th class scores will no longer be applicable. The last date for applications for CUET-UG is May 22 and the exam is likely within the first two weeks of July. It will be conducted in 13 languages and will be a computer-based exam, which will have multiple-choice question format.
