Cue Card will not run in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, the trainer Colin Tizzard has confirmed. It is the second year running that the horse will miss the festival.
The 2013 Ryanair Chase winner will not be risked due to a breathing problem. The nine-year-old was the second favourite for this year’s race behind Don Cossack.
Cue Card was in line to contest the Gold Cup last season but he suffered a muscle injury that sidelined him in November 2013.
The four-times Grade One winner has not been at his best since his return, having been well beaten at Exeter, at Haydock and in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Ma Filleule is now the second favourite for this month’s Ryanair, behind the Gordon Elliott-trained Don Cossack.
