Ferguson Jenkins will be the next Cubs legend to have a statue at Wrigley Field.
The club announced Tuesday that the Hall of Fame pitcher will join Ron Santo, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks and Harry Caray in bronze at the ballpark. Jenkins’ statue is expected to be unveiled sometime during the 2022 season.
The Cubs haven’t decided where on the ballpark grounds the statue will be placed.
The Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany, the same company that produced the statues of Santo, Williams, Banks and Caray at Wrigley Field and the Michael Jordan statue at the United Center, will create the piece.
Jenkins, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991, spent 10 of his 19 major league seasons with the Cubs (1966-73, 1982-83). His six 20-win seasons are tied for the most in franchise history with Mordecai Brown. In 1971, Jenkins became the first Cubs pitcher to earn the National League Cy Young Award.
As a Cub, he was 167-132 with 154 complete games, 29 shutouts, six saves and a 3.20 ERA in 401 games, including 347 as a starter.
