The Cubs traded first baseman Anthony Rizzo to the Yankees, according to multiple reports. Rizzo was the first piece of former team president Theo Epstein’s overhaul of the organization, trading with the Padres for Rizzo in January 2012.
Rizzo is hitting .248 with 14 home runs this season. According to Jack Curry of the Yankees’ YES Network, the Cubs are picking up the remainder of Rizzo’s salary. Curry also reported the Yankees are sending right-hander Alexander Vizcaino (teams’ ninth-rated prospect) and outfielder Kevin Alcantara (12th) to the Cubs.
