Cubs push forward for home-field advantage; defeat Reds, 9-2

CHICAGO _ The Cubs' push for home-field advantage in the National League playoffs continued Wednesday, when John Lackey was backed by power and finesse during a 9-2 victory against the Reds in front of 40,434 at Wrigley Field.

The win put the Cubs' magic number to clinch home-field advantage throughout the National League playoffs to two.

Miguel Montero had three hits and three RBIs, Kris Bryant hit his 38th home run and Ben Zobrist reached base four times, three via hits.

The Cubs scored in every inning but the second and the eighth.
