March 04--The new limited partners in the Chicago Cubs were a mystery until now.
The team named the partners in its 2015 media guide: Andrew Berlin, William Comrie, the DeVos family and Cory Thabit. There's a fifth limited partner that the media guide lists only as "O.C., L.L.C." And a sixth partner is not listed in the media guide.
The Ricketts family brought on limited partners to help pay for the $375 million renovation of Wrigley Field. The family declined to identify them last month after closing the deals.
The only Chicagoan appears to be Berlin, who confirmed his part-ownership in the team on his Twitter account. Berlin is the chief executive of a Chicago-based packaging company.
Comrie is a retired businessman who lives in California. He and his brothers founded The Brick, a Canadian retailer of furniture, mattresses, appliances and home electronics.
The DeVos family owns Amway and the NBA's Orlando Magic.
Thabit is the managing director of IMT Capital, a private real estate investment firm based in Los Angeles.
Galatioto Sports Partners, a New York-based investment bank, handled the sale of the limited partnerships for the Ricketts family. The family has declined to disclose how much money it raised from the investors.
