Cubs' Kris Bryant selective about endorsements, commercials

March 03--Kris Bryant vows he'll never swim with sharks again, even as a paid endorsement.

Bryant, 24, revealed Thursday morning that he's selective about which companies he'll agree to sponsor.

"It's fun to a certain extent," said Bryant, the 2015 National League Rookie of the Year. "You have to pick and choose what you think is good for you and what represents you.

His well-publicized swim with sharks in a cage in Hawaii was not just an offseason vacation activity, it was part of a film shoot for Red Bull. Bryant has a paid agreement with the energy drink producer. Last season, prior to his promotion to the Cubs, Bryant starred in a Red Bull ad that featured him -- and a symbolic goat -- down on the "farm" preparing for a shot at the big leagues.

Bryant believes his endorsements and promotional ads show his personality. "I don't want to choose stuff to get out there. I've never been the type to seek attention. But some of the stuff is fun."

Bryant enjoyed his filming for Express, especially since the company provides clothes that fit his 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame.

Anthony Rizzo and Bryant filmed a promotional spot for Major League Baseball, with a preview to be aired on March 10, Bryant said. A photo of the commercial, filmed Tuesday, shows Rizzo and Bryant in an office with their feet on a desk.

"They came after us with the idea, and I was on board," Bryant, who declined to reveal details. "I thought it would be fun. Of course, he (Rizzo) was on board. He does all that stuff."
