Cubs' Jake Arrieta all business on and off the field

April 22--An eventful day for Jake Arrieta started Thursday with his endorsement of the "Step Up Your Game" campaign for Mizzen+Main, a men's clothing brand that stands to benefit greatly from Arrieta's no-hitter Thursday night against the Cincinnati Reds.

For Arrieta, 30, who increases his value substantially with free agency looming after the 2017 season, this marks another feature of a dazzling resume in the past two seasons.

In fact, Arrieta has pitched so well during a 15-0 stretch in his past 16 starts that his teammates have learned to anticipate some greatness every time he takes the mound.

"You're always shocked when something like this happens," center fielder Dexter Fowler said. "From my point of view, we always expect that from Jake. Any time he goes out there, we think he can throw one."

From his center field view, Fowler said he saw "lots of swings and misses, a lot of foul tips, guys missing balls, just the movement on his pitches."

Because of Monday's day off, Arrieta will get an extra day of rest before his next scheduled start Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers.

But Arrieta doesn't plan to take any time to bask in the glory of his latest achievement.

"I'll show up (Friday) with a pretty intense work day for several hours and get ready for the next one," Arrieta said.
