Sept. 30--The start of Tuesday night's game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park was delayed by rain.
Weather permitting, the Cubs have a chance to cut their deficit behind the Pittsburgh Pirates to three games for the top National League wild card spot.
But Cubs manager Joe Maddon doesn't seem to mind where the Cubs play their Oct. 7 wild card game -- which most likely will be at PNC Park instead of Wrigley Field.
"I don't think it matters to us where we play," said Maddon, mindful that the Cubs took three of four games at PNC Park two weeks ago and won the season series from the Pirates 11-8.
Maddon did acknowledge that it would be special for Cubs fans if the game were played at Wrigley Field.
"(But) beyond that, to win the game, I don't think it matters where we play the game," Maddon said. "We have the potential to win at either spot."
There are more distractions at home, where players must take care of ticket and family obligations. "I imagine the demands there could be greater," Maddon said.
"I have so much faith in our guys that I'm not really worried about that as much. I thought a couple years ago home field advantage really matters. That was not true. That's why I'm not worried. Let's just play it. Wherever it falls, it falls for a reason. Let's go play it. I'm not wishing for one thing or another."
