Cubs commit 6 errors as they fall to the Braves, 8-0

ATLANTA _ The Cubs streak of errorless games ended at three, and their performance Monday night was hardly impressive.

They committed six errors _ equaling their most in nearly 13 seasons _ as they fell to the Braves 8-0 at SunTrust Park.

The tone was set in the bottom of the first inning when left fielder Mark Zagunis dropped a pop foul. Ender Inciarte hit the next pitch over the right-field wall, and the Braves went on to score four runs off Kyle Hendricks.

Shortstop Javier Baez sailed a throw wide of first base that allowed the second run to score.

In the third inning, first baseman Anthony Rizzo bobbled a ground ball, and then heaved a lob over the head of Hendricks at first for two errors. Second baseman David Bote also committed an errant flip that allowed a run in the fifth, and third baseman Kris Bryant was charged with an error that set up a run in the sixth.

The six errors were the most by the Cubs since Sept. 12, 2006, in a 9-8 win over the Dodgers in 11 innings. Second baseman Freddie Bynum (three), left fielder Jacque Jones, shortstop Cesar Izturis and first baseman Derrick Lee were charged with errors.

Only two of the seven runs charged to Hendricks were earned. Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a home run off Hendricks in the third.
