SAN FRANCISCO — Wrigley Field has been loud with limited capacity crowds, but it’s about to get even louder. The Cubs were approved to return to 100% capacity starting on June 11. The city of Chicago and state gave the team the go ahead as part of Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois COVID-19 plan.
As part of the increased capacity, the Cubs are changing some of their health and safety protocols. Outdoor and indoor capacity restrictions will be lifted, physical distancing will no longer be required in the ballpark and pod-style seating will be eliminated. The touchless entry process, bag restrictions, mobile tickets and cashless concessions and retail will all remain.
The team announced that single-game tickets for the remainder of the team’s home schedule will go on-sale on June 5 at 2 p.m. CT.
“The crowds the last two days have been amazing,” manager David Ross said during the Cubs’ last homestand. “It’s really fun to be a part of and having the fans back in the stands at that capacity, their energy, you can definitely feel it.”
