Cubs agree to 2-year deal with reliever Steve Cishek

The Cubs continued to add depth to their bullpen Thursday by agreeing to terms on a two-year contract with reliever Steve Cishek.

Cishek, 31, gives the Cubs a different dimension with his sidearm delivery. The right-hander posted a 2.01 ERA in 49 appearances with the Mariners and Rays in 2017.

Cishek has a lifetime 2.73 ERA in 422 appearances over seven seasons. He has limited right-handed batters to a .205 batting average and has 121 career saves, most of them coming in 2012-14 with the Marlins and in 2016 with the Mariners.

The deal will be official once Cishek passes a physical.
