Cuala manager Willie Maher disappointed that they won't get a shot at Leinster glory this year

Cuala manager Willie Maher is disappointed they have to pack away the hurls after landing back-to-back Dublin titles.

Sean Moran’s 2-3 haul and second half penalty conversion in particular proved crucial in a come from behind win.

Moran is best known as a Dublin defender but was asked by Maher to beef up the attack.

Cuala trailed 2018 champions Boden for much of the game but took the lead when Moran blasted a 52nd minute penalty.

And they didn’t let up, outscoring Joe Fortune’s ‘Boden 1-5 to 0-2 in total after the second water break.

It’s Cuala’s fifth title in six seasons though that’s the end of the line for the 2017 and 2018 All-Ireland winners.

The GAA ditched the provincial and All-Ireland club competitions this year and Maher wishes they would reconsider.

He added: “We would have loved a crack at Leinster but it’s the nature of the season and the pandemic that has dictated all this on us.”
