CSKA Sofia name ex-Newcastle boss Pardew as technical director

Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia have appointed former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager Alan Pardew as technical director.

Pardew stepped down from his previous role as manager of Dutch club ADO Den Haag in April after the 2019-20 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"English football specialist Alan Pardew will henceforth be part of the big red family of the Army," the club said in a statement. "He will take the position of technical director and help with the overall development of the club."

CSKA are the most successful team in the Bulgarian top-flight with a record 31 league titles, the last of which came in 2008.
