CSI at scene of Bedminster 'hit and run' as road still closed

Crime scene investigators have been spotted at the scene of a hit and run that happened in Bristol this morning.

A car and a motorcycle collided on Wedmore Vale in Bedminster at 6.45am. The road is still closed.

The male motorcyclist was hospitalised with "potentially life-changing injuries."

The vehicle, a Vauxhall Astra, failed to stop and police are now seeking witnesses of the collision or dash cam footage.

A statement from Avon and Somerset Police said: "The driver of the vehicle, believed to be a Vauxhall Astra, failed to stop following the collision and officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has dash cam footage of the incident.

"If you can help, please call 101 quoting reference 5220272399."

The road closure is affecting St John’s Lane and Wedmore Vale.

First West of England are diverting buses due to the road closure, with service 90 diverted in both directions.

A statement posted to the First West of England Twitter said: "We have just been told by the Police that Wedmore Vale in Knowle is closed due to an RTC between Glyn Vale and St Johns Lane. Service 90 will be diverting via Daventry Road and Redcatch Road in both directions.
