Crime Suppression Police yesterday arrested a man facing 13 arrest warrants for fraud and issuing bad cheques to business people amounting to over 10 million baht.
Phayao native, Chainarong Doksamer, 40, was arrested at a condominium in Bangkok's Nong Khaem district yesterday.
A dozen people filed complaints via Facebook claiming a man who presented himself as an exporter had contacted them to buy plastic bags. Initially he paid on time but later ordered up to five tonnes of plastic bags and then disappeared without paying or issuing cheques that bounced, said Pol Col Maen Menyaem, head of CSD's subdivision 4.
Mr Chainarong allegedly confessed to police he began cheating factories when he used an old cheque that could not be redeemed. He would sell the bags, domestically or in a neighbouring country, at 60-70 baht/kg, he said.
One victim, Sarawut Manpiriyakul, 28, said Mr Chainarong contacted him to buy over a million baht's worth of his firm's products. At first the cheques were fine. But later he had to contact Mr Chainarong many times because of payment problems.
