CS2 update (Sept. 16): Genesis Collection, grenade sound upgrade, more

The new Counter-Strike 2 update dropped on Sept. 16, bringing the brand-new Genesis Collection along with a grenade sound upgrade and other changes.

The Genesis Collection pack has multiple skins to offer. Plus, there’s a handy spectator mode and modding tools for the community map creators, making this one of those updates you won’t want to miss.

With that said, here’s a complete rundown of the latest CS2 patch notes.

New Genesis Collection

The highlight of this CS2 update is the Genesis Collection, which features 17 stunning weapon finishes created by community artists. To unlock these items, you have to head to the Genesis Uplink Terminal, available as part of the weekly drop.

This addition not only expands customization options but also celebrates the creativity of CS2’s player base. Here are all the 17 skins present in the Genesis Collection:

Upgraded grenade sounds and spectator loadout feature

Valve has introduced unique, high-fidelity sound effects for every grenade action, including drawing, inspecting, pulling the pin, and throwing. These polished audio cues help to make the game more immersive and can give you an extra edge in competitive play.

Moreover, spectators can now inspect your teammates’ full loadouts. This means that once you’re out of the round, you can check out other players’ weapon skins, gear, and equipment in detail. It’s a fun feature that adds a new layer of interaction for players on the sidelines.

New scripting tools for map creators

For the mapmaking community, Valve has rolled out a JavaScript-based scripting system. This gives creators more flexibility and options when designing custom maps and gameplay features.

An example map called script_zoo.vmap is included, which lets you experiment and see the new system in action, paving the way for better community creations in the future.
