CS Lewis Square Belfast 'attack' leaves three teenage boys in hospital

Three teenage boys were hospitalised after an alleged attack in a popular Belfast square.

The three males, aged between 14 and 15, were reportedly assaulted in CS Lewis Square, in the east of the city , on Monday evening, July 1.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested following the incident. He has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "We received a report at around 6.30pm that the three boys aged between 14 and 15, had been assaulted in CS Lewis Square. They sustained minor injuries and were treated at hospital.

"The suspect was detained a short distance away and is being questioned on suspicion of three counts of GBH with intent and possession of a prohibited weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

"We want to appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or has information that can help our investigation to call police via the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1762 01/07/19."
