Crystal Ski Holidays issues urgent bulletin for customers after French travel ban

UK visitors will be banned from France after 11pm with trips for tourism or business not permitted.

The tough new rules - which have been heavily criticised by tour operators and airlines - have been introduced “in the face of the extremely rapid spread of the Omicron variant in the United Kingdom”, according to the French government.

People intending to travel through France to other countries can only continue with their trip if they are remaining in the international area of an airport for under 24 hours.

Those allowed to enter France will need to provide evidence of a negative coronavirus test taken less than 24 hours in advance, and must isolate for at least two days.

TUI -owned winter sports specialist Crystal Ski Holidays has issued an urgent bulletin for holidaymakers with news of cancellations and refund policies. This is the latest from the tour operator:

France:

The firm has cancelled holidays to France on December, 21, December 28 and January 4.

Crystal Ski Holidays said: "We understand the huge disappointment this will cause.

"We know customers have been looking forward to their trip to the mountains with friends and family and we’ve emailed all customers with a re-booking incentive."

Customers that have already purchased testing packages, should contact their supplier directly to make any changes. For customers due to travel January 3-31 that want to change their holiday can do so up to 14 days before their departure.

Holidaymakers due to travel from February 1 onwards that want to change their holiday can do so up to 28 days before their departure with Crystal Holiday Promise.

Andorra:

The tour operator is working on plans to rearrange flights into Barcelona in Spain for customers due to travel to Andorra via France on the December 19, December 26 and January 2, so that holidays can continue as planned.

Crystal stated: "We’ll continue to monitor the situation for future departures and will be in contact with customers directly if there are any changes to flying arrangements."

Switzerland:

Crystal will contact customers due to travel to Switzerland on December 21, December 28 and January 4 with TUI Airways. Alternative flights will be rearranged with another airline.
