Crystal Ski cancels all holidays for winter 2020/2021 season due to restrictions

Crystal Ski holidays has announced that it will not be operating any holidays for the rest of the 2020/2021 winter season.

The holiday firm said that the decision comes "due to the continued impact of Covid-19 on worldwide travel and ski resorts".

Affected holidaymakers are being contacted by the firm and will be offered a range of options including rebooking to a future season with an incentive, or cancelling and receiving a refund.

Chris Logan, Managing Director at Crystal Ski Holidays, said: "We’re so disappointed not to be able to get our customers to the mountains this winter and we’d like to thank them for their continued patience, understanding and support.

"We know skiers and snowboarders are desperate to get back on the snow and we’re now looking forward to making next winter one to remember."

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the world of travel with worldwide restrictions in place for both locals and tourists.

It's meant that most ski holidays for the winter 2020/2021 season have been cancelled, while ski lifts haven't been opened for tourists in a number of resorts. For example, France's Tourism Minister said earlier this year that the country's ski lifts were unlikely to be reopened in February.

Then of course for Brits, there is currently a ban on international travel as part of national lockdowns across the UK. It's currently illegal to travel abroad for leisure, ruling out holidays. It's not yet clear when these restrictions could be eased.

Still, it's not all doom and gloom for skiers who are missing the slopes. Crystal Ski Holidays says it's been seeing high demand for next winter (2021/2022) and is already selling holidays between December 6, 2021, and April 10, 2022.

It's not the only ski firm to be noting an uptake on bookings for next winter. Club Med recently revealed that it expects next season to be its most successful winter to date, following a surge in bookings in recent weeks.
