Crystal Palace won't consider Patrick van Aanholt sale after £4.2m transfer bid

Crystal Palace will not sell left-back Patrick van Aanholt this month despite interest from PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutch club are keen on bringing Van Aanholt back to the club and are thought to have lodged an offer of £4.2million. However, Palace would not consider a sale of their only senior left-back this month, even before such a derisory offer is taken into account.

Van Aanholt, who has 18 months left on his contract, is set to return from injury against Sheffield United this weekend having not featured since hobbling off against West Ham on Boxing Day.

Earlier in the season midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp had covered for the 29-year-old before succumbing to his own injury, leaving Jairo Riedewald as Hodgson's only option.

With that shortage in mind, Hodgson has been keen to add competition and cover in Van Aanholt's position since the summer and will not entertain the idea of selling.

The Eagles are also desperate to add a right-back this month but are facing tough competition from Southampton for Tottenham's Kyle Walker-Peters. They could turn their attention to West Brom's Nathan Ferguson, who is out of contract at the Hawthorns in the summer.
