Crystal Palace without key player for Manchester United match today as Patrick Vieira reveals team

Crystal Palace have been dealt a blow for their visit to Old Trafford today as centre-back Joachim Andersen has not been deemed fit enough to travel.

The Danish international has been one of Palace's most consistent performers so far this season but has missed Palace's last two games against Aston Villa and Leeds United with a hamstring injury.

Both of those games ended in defeat for the Eagles, further exemplifying how much of a loss Andersen is to the team when he isn't available.

Crystal Palace fans had hoped that he would have recovered from his hamstring problem for the visit to Manchester United on Sunday, with the club's assistant manager Osian Roberts revealing on Friday they would be running tests on the defender daily to monitor his progress.

But it seems today's game has come too soon for Andersen, with the Dane not making the trip up to Manchester with the rest of the matchday squad.

James Tomkins has deputised for Andersen in the last two matches and has kept his place in the starting XI for today's game alongside England Under-21 captain Marc Guehi.

Vieira has also named Nathaniel Clyne in the back four for the first time this season, with regular right-back Joel Ward unavailable due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

For United, new interim boss Ralf Rangnick has named a strong starting XI for his first game in charge of the Red Devils.

Cristiano Ronaldo starts up front despite fears he might miss the game through an injury picked up against Arsenal on Thursday night, while Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho all join him in a fearsome forward line.
