Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend admits he's 'open' to joining Celtic or Rangers

Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has admitted he'd be 'open' to playing in the Scottish Premiership for either Celtic or Rangers.

The 29-year-old is out-of-contract with the Eagles at the end of this month, and with the Premier League club still searching for a replacement for previous manager Roy Hodgson, his future remains far from certain.

Townsend has been at Selhurst Park since 2016 after moving from Newcastle United in a deal thought to be worth around £13million at the time, and the ex-Spurs wide-man has since scored 13 Premier League goals in 168 top-flight matches for Palace.

But, with his employment up in the air, Townsend was asked earlier today if he'd ever consider turning out for either of the Old Firm clubs, and the England international certainly didn't pour cold water on the idea.

When the idea was put to him, the 13-time England cap replied: "I'm open to everything.

"If there’s an option that presents itself and it’s the best one for me and fulfils my needs, I wouldn’t turn it down just because it’s in another country."

Ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been linked with taking over the vacant Palace hot-seat, whilst Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has also been credited with an interest.
