Crystal Palace 'will push for removal of Wilfried Zaha's sell-on clause' in Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer to Manchester United

Former Manchester United attacker Wilfried Zaha may have a role to play in Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka's potential transfer to Old Trafford, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bring young, talented and preferably British players to United this summer as he continues to rebuild this squad. And he is off the mark after signing Swansea City winger Daniel James.

His next target has been Palace's Wan-Bissaka in order to reinforce United's leaky back-line that conceded 10 goals in the final five games of the season after the 21-year-old established himself as one of the most defensively sound full backs in the Premier League last season.

Personal terms have been agreed between the club and the player but a fee is yet to be agreed with the Eagles, who are not willing to give their Player of the Year away on the cheap.

However, there may be a way for United to lower the price.

According to the Guardian, Palace have 'been keen to cancel, or at least reduce, a sell-on clause' in Zaha's transfer back to the club following his failed stint at United in 2015.

Since his departure from Manchester, Zaha has gone on to become one of the league's most exciting forwards and one of the best players outside of the top six, not to mention the main reason for Palace's Premier League survival.

But such high levels of performance mean he is once again being linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, with Arsenal being the latest club linked with a move.

However, United are currently due a percentage of any transfer fee - which is likely to be high - Palace get for the Ivory Coast international which 'could be worth as much as £15m.'

United have already had two bids rejected but Palace 'will still push for the removal of Zaha’s clause when talks resume,' which was reported to have been on Monday.

Elsewhere, United ‘are interested’ in young Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo, according to Spanish publication Marca.

It’s said that Liverpool are also interested as they look for back-up to Andy Robertson but ‘they will have competition’ from United ‘as they continue to look for defensive reinforcements.’

It’s also claimed the La Liga side ‘won’t stand in his way’ if the right offer comes in.
