Crystal Palace vs Southampton team news: Jack Butland starts as Vieira makes Andersen decision

Patrick Vieira has made one change to his Crystal Palace XI for tonight's visit of Southampton to Selhurst Park.

Danish international Joachim Andersen is on the bench for the game having missed the last four matches with a hamstring injury, His replacement James Tomkins - who scored in the 3-1 win over Everton on Sunday - remains at centre-back.

Partnering Tomkins at the back is Marc Guehi and behind them in goal is Jack Butland, who makes his first league appearance of the season ahead of Vicente Guaita, who starts on the bench after picking up a slight injury against Everton.

Tyrick Mitchell and Joel Ward make up the defence playing in the left and right-back positions, respectively.

In midfield, Cheikhou Kouyate keeps his place in the defensive midfield role, while Will Hughes gets another start after impressing against the Toffees on Sunday.

Conor Gallagher makes his 100th senior appearance as a pro, playing alongside Hughes in midfield. The 21-year-old is the Eagles' top scorer this season with six goals and three assists in the Premier League.

Ahead of him, Wilfried Zaha returns on the left while Jordan Ayew also keeps his place on the right-wing after impressing also against Everton

Odsonne Edouard leads the line ahead of Christian Benteke. Vieira spoke on Tuesday about the Frenchman needing to score more goals to get his confidence up and has trusted him to start up front for the second game in a row now.
